Indoor summer activities for toddlers

โ€”

Summer is upon us. It can be challenging to get out of the house during the heat when you have a little one with sensitive skin like I do. Anything in the 90s or above means weโ€™re likely inside until it cools down. Being pregnant, itโ€™s just an added struggle, so Iโ€™ve been giving myself grace with a little more screen time than usual and being okay with picking up a little more around the house if that means I have a happy little one.

Here are some simple ideas to keep your little one entertained so you can drink your morning coffee before it gets cold, and you can turn the TV off for a while, too. I LOVE anything that involves getting my daughterโ€™s brain working to be creative and get those brain connections firing. I found the best crayons to get her started coloring; theyโ€™re perfect for her little hands to grip, non-toxic, and they pass the throw across the table test, too. Sheโ€™s still too little for coloring books, and honestly, I think they can be a waste of money for most kiddos. I use a giant craft paper roll, tape it down to the table, and let her go at it. This is probably my favorite hack I have for saving money, plus it makes for a quick and easy clean-up. If youโ€™re a Disney fan like I am, hi, hello, letโ€™s be friends. I found the cutest Disney magnets that keep her busy long enough to get breakfast done and even a load of dishes. I love the wooden quality, and they donโ€™t scratch my fridge either! Her little hands have no issue taking them on and off the refrigerator or picking them up off the floor.

The last thing thatโ€™s been keeping her occupied are her building blocks. I was hesitant to get her blocks but Iโ€™m so happy I did. This probably keeps her the busiest for the longest amount of time. The hand eye coordination it helps build is awesome. The storage bag is the cherry on top to keep everything organized and again, quick clean up. Iโ€™m all for the quick clean ups.

I hope these few items help give you a couple of minutes to get some quiet time, a bathroom break, or simply just time to sit and catch your breath. At the end of the day, however you can keep your little one entertained without being totally reliant on screen time is awesome. If you have any other ideas please let me know in the comments. I would love to hear how you keep your littles entertained inside as well!

Until next time,

Kinda crunchy mama.
